Tzatziki Sauce

Jump to Recipe

Fresh Tzatziki sauce adds flavor to many dishes, and with fresh whole milk plain greek yogurt, you are also supporting your gastrointestinal system. Since yogurt is the main ingredient in this recipe, let’s do a quick nutrition brief on yogurt

Nutritional brief: yogurt

Yogurt is delicious so it is really awesome that it is also very nutritious! Yogurt contains a lot of protein which helps to control appetite and also promotes muscle and bone health. It has a higher concentration of
conjugated linoleic acids than milk and this is benneficial because conjugated linoleic acids have anticarcinogenic as well as immunostimulatory effects. Yogurt is a great replacement for mayonnaise which generally contains oils such as canola, vegetable, and soybean which are very bad for our bodies.

To prepare the Tzatziki sauce start by grating 1/2 of an english cucumber. Wring the water out of your grated cucumber by using paper towels to hold it while squeezing over the sink.

Then, add 1/2 cup of whole milk greek yogurt ( I use organic yogurt from cows that were grass fed, I think it makes a nutritional difference!). Add 1 tablespoon of olive oil, and grate two cloves of garlic in using a microblade.

Next, add the zest, and juice of one lemon to the bowl.

Chop up the dill and add along with the pink himalayan sea salt.

Lastly, mix it all together and store in the refrigerator until needed.
